V datadisku Battlefield 4™ Night Operations se boje přesouvají do tmy a ve hře se tak otevírají nové taktické možnosti. Bitva na pozemcích staré ruské továrny Zavod 311 nemá ani na konci dne svého vítěze. Se soumrakem přichází Noční směna a do boje nastupují noví vojáci. Na mapě zahalené do tmy se rázem změní taktická situace a výhodu získávají ti, kdo jsou zběhlí v používání optiky pro noční vidění, infračervených kamer nebo přístrojů určených k odhalení pozic nepřítele v podmínkách zhoršené viditelnosti. Světelné zdroje získávají na důležitosti a světlice či svítilny mohou pomáhat, ale také vyzradit nepříteli vaši pozici. Jinou možností je promyšlené ničení zdrojů světla, například lamp, a využití momentu překvapení, když se protor nečekaně propadne do ještě větší tmy.
