Dr. Helen Magnus is a beautiful and enigmatic scientist who seeks out all manner of mosntrous creatures. Aided by forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman, tech expert Henry Foss, professional con artist Kate Freelander, and the mysterious and unpredictable John Druitt, the Sanctuary team tracks down, studies and protects the strange and often terrifying creatures that secretly populate our world.
Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) continues her desperate search
for her daughter, Ashley (EMILIE ULLERUP), who is still held prisoner by the Cabal.
Together, Magnus and John Druitt (CHRISTOPHER HEYERDAHL) interrogate their
most elusive contacts around the globe in an attempt to find her and make sense of the
Still reeling from their violent encounter with the transformed Ashley
(EMILIE ULLERUP), Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) is determined to find
answers about the Cabal and their plans for her daughter.
Certain that Kate (AGAM DARSHI) is still withholding information, a furious Magnus
demands to know who her contact is at the Cabal. Kate is acutely aware that without
Magnus and the Sanctuary, she will be killed by the Cabal herself and therefore relents,
revealing her contact protocols to reach Dana Whitcomb (LYNDA BOYD).
Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and the team are still recuperating
from the Cabal attacks that devastatingly took down so many Sanctuaries around the
Magnus and Druitt (CHRISTOPHER HEYERDAHL) struggle to come to terms with the
apparent death of their only daughter, Ashley (EMILIE ULLERUP). Druitt seeks
revenge on her captor, the Cabal. Magnus, however, clings to the faint hope that
Ashley could somehow still be alive. While Druitt leaves to exact his bloody revenge,
Magnus takes a quiet, methodical approach to prove that Ashley is alive.
An unlikely superhero with unprecedented strength and the amazing ability
to fly, is thwarting crime - and Sanctuary missions - throughout the city, sparking an
investigation into his identity by the Sanctuary team. Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and
Will (ROBIN DUNNE) are able to trap this costumed man by creating a phony
emergency, which he responds to with vigor. The city’s newest hero who calls himself
“The Adjuster” is quickly disabled and brought back to the Sanctuary for study.
Convinced that Magnus and Will are actually super-villains who have captured him in
order to run experiments on him, The Adjuster AKA Walter (CHRISTOPHER
GAUTHIER) is less than cooperative. When a blood test reveals he doesn’t possess the
DNA of an Abnormal, Magnus and Will are baffled as to the origins of his super powers.
Still convinced he’s in the hands of the super-enemy, Walter manages to escape before
the Sanctuary team can confirm the results of any more tests.
Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) wakes up on the floor of the
Sanctuary with no recollection of why or how she got there. Disoriented and bewildered,
she discovers her office scarred with bullet holes, equipment broken in pieces and
layered with dust and the lab left only with devastating remnants of a horrific battle
With no signs of life to be found, Magnus is completely baffled and shaken. To gather
her thoughts, she steps up onto the Sanctuary’s rooftop parapet, but is shocked by the
scene before her. Instead of the lights of New City, she looks out to a dark, cratered
landscape…the city is decimated.
Dr. Helen Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) fights to save the life of one of the Sanctuary’s research scientists who was viciously attacked by a seemingly docile Abnormal. Baffled by the creature’s uncharacteristic behaviour, Henry (RYAN ROBBINS) tries to figure out what, or who, caused the domesticated Abnormal to react so violently.
Will (ROBIN DUNNE) goes up against the heads of the Sanctuary Network to defend Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) who is charged with a shocking murder. But as the evidence stacks up against her, even Will has trouble finding a way to convincingly defend her innocence. Directed by AMANDA TAPPING
Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and Will (ROBIN DUNNE) are called to make a straightforward retrieval of a rare Abnormal off the coast of Louisiana. With a commissioned helicopter, the retrieval is successful and their cargo securely on board. But as the pair starts heading back to the mainland, something causes the unusual sea creature to break loose. Unable to control the Abnormal and the helicopter simultaneously, Magnus and Will make a crash landing and find themselves entangled in guy wire, precariously dangling over an abandoned oil bore well several feet above the water in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. With the Abnormal nowhere to be found, Magnus concludes it has made its getaway into the depths of the water. But their solitude doesn’t last long. Not only does the Abnormal return, it’s even angrier than before. And Magnus and Will quickly learn they must escape or become its next victim.
Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) is reunited with an old friend, Jimmy (MICHAEL SHANKS) who is transporting a valuable elemental Abnormal to the Sanctuary for safety.
But an underground mob accustomed to cashing in on the Abnormal black market, tracks down Jimmy and his valuable cargo before the delivery is complete. Magnus and Jimmy find themselves in a dangerous shootout, determined to save the Abnormal. Will (ROBIN DUNNE), Kate (AGAM DARSHI) and Henry (RYAN ROBBINS) are quick on the scene as backup. Kate proves her worth when she manages to get Jimmy and the Abnormal to safety. But not before taking a shot from one of the mobsters herself.
Hiding out in an abandoned, derelict motel room until the immediate danger of the mob passes, Jimmy tends to Kate’s gunshot wound. With little to do but talk and wait for Magnus to find them, Jimmy and Kate discover an unexpected common history.
Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and Will (ROBIN DUNNE) investigate a number of inexplicable teenage disappearances. The common denominator in the case seems to be that they all recently spent time at an exclusive rehab clinic in Mexico. Paying a visit to the clinic, Magnus and Will are surprised to meet the program’s director…none other than a disguised Nikola Tesla (JONATHAN YOUNG), one of the original Five. Tesla portentously explains he has been working on a treatment that cures the teens of their addictions in merely a week. Magnus and Will know Tesla has an ulterior motive and press him to disclose the real purpose for the clinic. Unable to hold back his excitement, Tesla reveals he is actually turning his patients into Vampires. Tesla’s treatment is designed to create a time-release of the Vampire gene, evolving his unsuspecting patients into Vampires over a 30-year period. But when one of his patients discovers the formula to speed up the process, they find themselves up against a powerful and determined group of new Vampires. Unless they can be stopped, Magnus fears Tesla may have unleashed the resurrection of the deadliest race of Abnormals ever to roam the Earth.
Passengers and crew of a sinking ship off the coast of South Africa are rescued by Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) and her team, and teleported back to the Sanctuary for safety and medical treatment. But when one of the peaceful refugees is brutally murdered, all eyes turn to Druitt (CHRISTOPHER HEYERDAHL). Magnus confronts Druitt, knowing very well that something has been awakened in him that is driving him to act on his murderous instincts. But he is one step ahead of her and ready for a fight. In a split second, Druitt takes off down the hallway with Magnus in swift pursuit. A battle of wits and strength leaves them both with injuries. But ultimately, Magnus, with Kate’s (AGAM DARSHI) help, overpowers Druitt and uses her stun gun to stop him in his tracks.
Reports start coming in from Sanctuaries around the world of unusually violent and erratic behaviour from their most docile Abnormals. In an effort to find a connection between the disturbing incidents, Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING) holds a video conference with the Heads of Household from the international Sanctuaries. Many on her team have theories, but none seem to fully explain the odd Abnormal behaviour encountered simultaneously by so many Sanctuaries. However, one piece of news from the Mumbai Sanctuary tweaks Magnus’s attention. A man with the mark of Kali on his leg, was found shot in Dharavi. As Magnus explains to Will (ROBIN DUNNE), Kali is an ancient cult whose followers are rumoured to be able to foretell disaster.
After finding Will (ROBIN DUNNE) in a Dharavi warehouse just barely alive, Magnus (AMANDA TAPPING), Kate (AGAM DARSHI) and Ravi (SHAKER PALEJA), rush him back to the Mumbai Sanctuary for emergency treatment. Hallucinating and drifting in and out of consciousness, Will continues to call out to Kali, the beautiful woman in his visions, in English and in Hindi. Magnus has informed the team of the existence of the Makri, a very small and extremely rare species of Abnormal spider. The Makri selects someone to be its “host” in order to communicate telepathically with its genetic cousin…an extremely powerful Abnormal capable of causing astounding natural disasters. Ravi is shocked to hear that this Abnormal is still alive and a threat as Magnus had reported to her colleagues in the Sanctuary Network that she had killed it four years earlier as a preventative measure.
