Cillian Murphy was nominated for a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Patrick "Kitten" Braden, who was abandoned as a baby in a small Irish town, dropped on the doorstep of the rectory of Father Bernard (Liam Neeson), and raised by a strict foster mother. Patrick is aware from an early age that he is different, and he is soon donning dresses and lipstick. Believing his birth mother may have moved to London, Kitten (as he insists on being called) makes his way there, encountering one colorful character after another. During his search to find her, he performs with a rock band, becomes a magician's assistant, and is interrogated by the police as a suspected IRA bomber. Kitten eventually survives, and thrives, with the aid of his wit and charm, plus a sweet refusal to let anyone or anything change who he is.
