The Sliders land in the ocean, and swim to the nearby beach, where they realize California has become a chain of islands. They enter the dense undergrowth, feeling that something is watching them. They're right: something chases them. They evade the vaguely-human creature, then it leaps on Quinn (Jerry O'Connell). Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) grabs a rock and knocks it out. Hearing more growls, they rush off. Elsewhere in the jungle, Rickman (Neil Dickson) sneaks up on a half-human creature and plunges a needle into its neck. He then injects himself, taking on the hybrid's features. At the hybrids' lair, Rickman asks the leader, Ceres (DeRon Michael McBee), if they are ready to attack the compound, but Ceres tells him that Dr. Vargas (Michael York) has guns. Just then, a hybrid is dragged in, mumbling about other humans. Realizing it's the Sliders, Rickman tells Ceres to shift his attack to the new humans.

As a packed crowd waits for the Gothic band Stoker to take the stage, a stagehand introduces a lovely girl, Mina (Leslie Monique Soule), to the band. The lead singer, Morgan (Ryan Alosio), takes her to the side and buries his fangs in her neck. Later, out in the crowd gathered for the performance, Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) watches the band. In the morning, Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) suggests that they split up to find Rickman (Neil Dickson); Quinn (Jerry O'Connell) agrees, though he's curious about all the missing girls in this city. They leave Wade, who wants to sleep late. At a hospital, Rickman, disguised as a priest, draws fluid from sleeping patients. Quinn searches the hospital, to find these patients now in comas.

The Sliders land in a gypsy village, to find several comatose or dead victims. Quinn (Jerry O'Connell) realizes Rickman is acting desperately, and they follow him to a world they've visited before -- the world Maggie's people arrived in to escape the destruction of their world. Upon arrival, they encounter huge, plant-eating dinosaurs. Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) is excited about the dinosaurs, but Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) is more excited that he will once again see Malcolm, the boy whose life he saved. They soon see a wrecked jeep, and then the refugees’ empty camp, and a drawing -- by Malcolm -- of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. They also find a mass graveyard. Nearby, Rickman (Neil Dickson) finds a sentry from one of the camps, and attacks him. He is unable to complete his deadly task when he is attacked by the T-Rex.

On a world where California is part of Mexico, Quinn (Jerry O'Connell) and Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) take a "vacation" to Zamora. When they are bumped from their flight back, they luck onto a plane chartered by Kyra (Julie St. Claire). As they takeoff, a military Jeep chases them, shooting at the plane. In flight to Los Angeles (now called Delgado), Kyra tells them the crates she's transporting contain two poisonous tri-adders, whose venom will be used to cure diseases. When one of the snakes slips out of its crate and kills the pilot, the plane crashes into the jungle. Against Rembrandt's wishes, Kyra insists they take the other tri-adder, still in its case, as they head for civilization. Unbeknownst to them, the other tri-adder follows their trail. They come across a field of tobacco, an illegal crop in this world. Realizing that they have stumbled upon a drug king's plantation, they try to run away, but trip an alarm.

A man wearing a gas mask picks flowering plants from a foggy forest, when he is set upon by a group of the natives. They cut the hose, and watch him die, gasping. Shortly, the Sliders land in the forest and all but Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) start coughing and gasping. She leads them out of the fog, which ends at the forest line. Deep within the fog, the natives, accompanied by Colonel Rickman (Neil Dickson), watch their struggle. Later, when Maggie returns from exploring the fog, Quinn (Jerry O'Connell) berates her for leaving the group and demands that she stay with the team. They enter a nearby rustic town, inhabited by a simple, unmodern people and they encounter Adra (Oona Hart), a blind seer, as she reads tarot cards. When she touches Quinn's face, she gets a vision -- he is a sacrificial victim for the natives -- and warns them to leave town. Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) thinks it's nonsense, but Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) wants to find out more.

Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) snaps awake from a nightmare about hideous creatures. Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) coaxes her to re-tell the story, when Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) was still with them… At night, a creature -- human-like, but hideous -- leaps out of the trees as a search party roams through the forest. They call off the search, figuring the creature has gone underground. The next morning, the Sliders land in the forest, Rembrandt landing in a thorny bush. Arturo helps him out, both getting scratched. Quinn (Jerry O'Connell) points out the planets, lined up in the sky: the gravitational pull must be treacherous. When they come to a clearing where they find several young families playing, the ground quakes and splits open.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the group finds that Dr. Sylvius (Dawnn Lewis) has been put in charge of the frozen Maggie. She shows them Maggie's x-ray, revealing something in her stomach. With the group distracted by the x-ray, Maggie rises from the cot and escapes through the ventilation ducts undetected.

As Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) listens to radio broadcasts from the dying world, Quinn (Jerry O’Connell) slides into the military base's lab with an unconscious Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) in his arms -- and the Slider's home coordinates recorded in the timer. In the infirmary, Dr. Jensen (Mark Kiely) confronts Quinn, jealous of his wife's feelings toward Quinn. A nurse interrupts, telling them Maggie could have died if Quinn had not intervened. The other Sliders show up, excited about the news that they can go home now. Quinn tells them that they must wait until they have finished the sliding device he promised in order to save some of these people. An argument erupts, with Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) accusing Quinn of never thinking of the rest of the group.

In a satellite monitoring station, a military officer calls Dr. Jariabek (Krzysztof Pieczynski) to inform him that a radiation-emitting pulsar is heading toward Earth. Before she can finish, however, someone sticks a needle in her neck and then injects himself with the fluid. The Sliders land in a city besieged by looters, as defense sirens wail. They come across a vagrant, who blames the Russians. Apparently, the Cold War has not ended in this dimension. Suddenly, a car races around the corner, flipping and exploding. The Sliders try to rescue the driver, who mumbles something about a trajectory being wrong. As he dies, the Sliders notice blood seeping from a gunshot wound. Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) recognizes the man as Dr. Jariabek, a noted cosmologist. Another car pulls up, and Captain Maggie Beckett (Kari Wuhrer) and two soldiers jump out with guns drawn, demanding to know if Jariabek said anything.
